I met Leilynne, AAMA from US going to Mongolia for business. She transited in Beijing last night. We met for some snacks. It was great to meet some friends in the "new" environment.
We talked a lot about what's happening. Just to share with you, I had this goal in mind before I came to Beijing: to start some small organizations to meet more young entrepreneurs in Beijing. The idea was from inspiration my mentor at Google. Thanks to the motivation booster from Leilynne now I started putting more serious thoughts into it.
I thought a lot last night on the way back to where I temporarily stay in the International Trade Center area, a definitely a great area to live in. (unfortunately, it is only temporary for me as I bunk in at my friend's office/staff residence.) That sounds very entrepreneurial, doesn't it?=p
I have been thinking of what are the objectives of the organization that I am brainstorming. Hope there can be some suggestions and recommendations from some great people.
0. meet great people, make friends and HAVE FUN
1. meet entrepreneurs
2. meet multi-nationals in the organization
3. talk about high-tech (IT, Bio-Tech, CleanTech, Green Energy... latest and most frontier etc)
4. talk about the market (what's happened, what are the changes and what's going on and what would happen)
5. talk about business (whether they can help each other in one way or another)
6. search mentors for local entrepreneurs
7. foster mentorship program
8. help Chinese entrepreneurs with their Oral English
I also have thought of the names... ChinaConnect, CNConnect, Y.E.A (Young Entrepreneurs Association), eConnect (Entrepreneur Connect - Connect Entrepreneurs)
Out of these ideas, I prefer the last two... YEA sounds very cool and happening. eConnect looks more professional.
The next step is to jump start it. Oriented Happy Hour is this coming Thursday. I'll be volunteering for Alex and Steve. They are the founder of Oriented Beijing Chapter. I got to know Oriented through its very own founder Christine Hsu. I really liked the concept and I saw great values for the members.
looking for some feedback. =) please email me your feedback... thanks! d a v i d . d i n g [at] n u s e a . o r g ! Appreciate it!

Interesting thoughts there...
There's something that sounds similar to the Y.E.A name, which is Y.E.O, an existing organization in Singapore called "Young Entrepreneurs Organization". They do however have entry requirements, one of which is having a company with an annual gross sales at least USD$1 mil.
I think if such an organization doesn't exist in Beijing, then it would be a really good thing!
Keep me updated if you need help or ideas.
